The Samsung Galaxy S recently has shifted over 14 million units making it one of the most successful Android smartphones thus far. The new improved Galaxy S2 comes with a dual-core processor a Super AMOLED Plus display and other goodies and looks set to follow in its predecessor's footsteps.
After countless leaks, finally Samsung has officially announced Samsung Galaxy S II (formerly Galaxy S2) smartphone in last's February Mobile World Congress 2011. The original Galaxy S was famously skinny and light, and at just 8.5mm thick, the Galaxy S2 is the thinnest smartphone on the market, effortlessly pinching the 9.3mm iPhone 4's crown.
The screen on the S2 is a Super Amoled Plus, slightly more brighter and sharper than the non Plus version of this screen technology. Also Samsung didn’t forget to incorporate the latest mobile data technology into their new high end smartphone. With the Galaxy S2, it will be possible to have HSPA+ connections, as long as your provider supports these connections. In theory, you could achieve download speeds of 56 Mbit/s and upload speeds of 22 Mbit/s.

The software on the Galaxy S2, is the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. And if you are asking yourself why Samsung hasn’t chosen to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb on this phone.the answer is that the Honeycomb operating system is meant to run on tablets and not smartphones. Samsung has also provided its own interface on top of Android 2.3 for the Galaxy S2 smartphone: TouchWiz 4.0. TouchWiz provides the user with all sorts of connections to music services, social media, etc. There are other dual core smartphones out there that come fitted with the latest version of the Android operating system, a dual core processor and a size of screen you could you could pop on stand in the corner of your living room like HTC's Sensation and EVO 3D, but they just don’t perform like the Galaxy S2 does.
