Dell, Alienware Reveal Latest 'All Powerful' Desktops, Notebook
HardwaredellThese aren't your father's desktops anymore. Dell and Alienware have rolled out two new series of desktops and a new notebook designed to blow the doors off of any other gaming platform currently on the market by taking advantage of Intel`s Core i7 processors.

The three new PCs codeveloped by Dell and Alienware -- the M15x notebook, the Aurora and Area 51 desktops -- are designed to present hard-core gamers with a complete solution that will perform well with both video games and high-intensity applications that demand computing power.

The new systems are part of Dell and Alienware's "All powerful" strategy. In June, the two computer makers launched the Alienware M17x as the first member of the brand.

The new Alienware M15x is the second laptop in the "All Powerful" line. The bold statement is backed in a 15-inch laptop equipped with the Intel Core i7 processor and a 1-GB Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card. The M15x can be built with up to 8 GB of DDR3 memory. Storage comes in two varieties, either a 250-GB HDD or 128-GB solid state drive.

The Alienware Aurora and Aurora ALX desktops are built to easily handle individual customization, depending on the needs of the user. Both versions come with the Core i7 processor and have the option to install dual 1-GB ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards. Up to 2 TB of hard drive storage is complemented by up to 24 GB of DDR3 memory for the Aurora or 12 GB of DDR memory for the Aurora ALX.

In addition to being gaming machines, the Aurora series of desktops is equipped to handle high-definition audio and video editing as well as 3-D animation.

The Area 51 model desktops from Alienware and Dell are billed as being built with the latest and most advanced technology available on the market, according to Dell. The Intel Core i7 processor in these machines has been factory overclocked to 3.86GHz. A quad-GPU dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 graphics card handles the graphics while up to 12 GB of DDR3 memory provides the horsepower.

Each of the systems is available now through Alienware's Web site. The Aurora and Aurora ALX start at $1,299; the Area 51 and Area 51 ALX start at $1,999; and the M15x notebook starts at $1,499.
