Microsoft takes a jab at Linux with 'It's better with Windows' website
Microsoft are now on the offensive and have teamed up with Asus to take out its netbook rival whom with which it has long abstained from battle with... .. Linux!.
The joint campaign held by the two companies kicked itself off with a page entitled quite simply "It's better with Windows", which showed off adverts for Windows and gives reasons why netbook users in particular should be using Windows operating systems, and not Linux distributions - and of course, suggesting it is a better choice for Asus' range of netbooks.
Many technology journalists have already pointed out that this is likely a very sparsely covered attempt by Microsoft to protect its share in the growing netbook market - and regardless of the fact that the company is claiming that the vast majority of netbooks being shipped run Windows nevertheless - it appears worried by Linux.
Not only that, but Microsoft now also face the ever-increasing challenge from traditional allies for the control of the Netbook market... with Intel Moblin running up the ranks as a chief OS for netbooks - an operating system that is, once again, built on the Linux platform.
Good luck Microsoft... Looks like you will need it.
